Catching up on some of the latest Division III college basketball news and notes from the state of Massachusetts…

* D3Hoops.com released their most recent rankings on Sunday, Dec. 11, and according to their Top-25 poll, Amherst College’s women’s team, who’s [7-0] continues to be the top squad across the country, while Babson College remains locked at No. 16. Fitchburg State University is currently receiving one vote in the category, “others receiving votes.”

* In the men’s poll, MIT is currently ranked No. 4, Amherst College is No. 6, and WPI is No. 20.

* According to reports — Wheelock College’s men’s basketball head coach John Preziosa resigned this past week. He ended his career with [39-74] record, and was the only coach in the school’s five-year history to lead the Wildcats.

* The MIT Engineers can earn their best start in school history on Wednesday, Dec. 14, when they host Wheelock at Rockwell Cage. The men dressed in red and white haven’t lost a game this season, and are coming off a dramatic win against Tufts University from this past weekend. MIT is [11-0], and this particular game also marks their final non-conference tilt of the season.
