Mass. College Football: NEFC Week 9 Awards

On Saturday evening, the New England Football Conference unveiled its weekly offensive and defensive players of the week. And below we’ve provided brief summaries on both players, who’re both from Massachusetts schools.

Offensive Player of the WeekMike Murphy (Endicott College) hauled in 11 catches for 139 yards and recorded a single game school-record five touchdowns against Western New England College. Also, the Chelmsford native broke the Gulls receiving yardage record, which was established in 2007 with a 35-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter.

Defensive Player of the WeekDan Dowling (Westfield State) was one of two players to finish with a game-high 15 tackles (14 solo). He forced a fumble, as well as punted the ball seven times against Massachusetts Maritime for a 43.7 average and placed the ball inside the Buccaneers 20 five times.
