It’s Tuesday, which means this particular week is slowly motoring along! Here are some headlines and news to kickstart your day!

* Four players recorded 10 points or more for Philadelphia on Monday, as the 76ers defended a late rally by Boston to tie their Eastern Conference semi-finals series, 1-1, (Philly defeated Boston, 82-81 in Game No. 2).

* Jrue Holiday paced the 76ers with 18 points, while Andre Iguodala recorded 13 points, six rebounds and seven assists in the win. As for the Celtics, Ray Allen came off the bench and netted 17 points, Kevin Garnett added 15 points, and Brandon Bass registered 12 points.

* Boston and Philadelphia will resume their series on Wednesday in the “City of Brotherly Love” — Tip is scheduled for 7:00PM at the Wells Fargo Center.

* The Boston Red Sox earned their fourth consecutive win, as they defeated the Seattle Mariners, 6-1. Jon Lester tossed a complete game, and allowed eight hits, one earned run, and fanned six batters. Daniel Nava and Kelly Shoppach each cranked one home run, while David Ortiz recored his 26th RBI of the season.

* Boston and Seattle will conclude their two-game series on Tuesday – Josh Beckett opposes Blake Beavan — first pitch is scheduled for 4:05PM.

Happy “Hump Day” to everyone, and welcome into yet another outstanding edition of the Daily Noontime! Here are some headlines to jumpstart this gloomy day thus far!

* The word “gloomy” is a good way to describe both the Boston Celtics and Red Sox games from Tuesday, as both teams watched their current winning streaks get snapped.

* Atlanta halted a 7-0 run by Boston, and swarmed Rajon Rondo following a steal with approximately nine seconds remaining in regulation to earn an 87-86 win. Boston still leads, 3-2, and will attempt to punch their ticket to round two on Thursday when both squads return to the hardwood.

* Al Horford led all scorers with 19 points, while Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce each tallied 16 points in the loss.

* After Tuesday’s game concluded, Pierce downplayed his knee injury by saying, “I don’t think it bothered me too much.” Boston’s captain finished the contest 7 of 17, and recorded six rebounds, four assists and three steals.

* Kansas City ended Boston’s one-game winning streak on Tuesday, as they defeated the Red Sox, 6-4. David Ortiz recorded his 13th double, while Kelly Shoppach and Dustin Pedroia each registered an RBI in the loss.

* After their second contest against the Royals, Will Middlebrooks told reporters that he hopes to be in the lineup on Wednesday despite tightness in his left hamstring.

* Finally, the New England Patriots inked former Denver Broncos tight end Daniel Fells to a contract for the upcoming 2012 season. Fells, who was really close to signing with the Patriots in 2010, ended up joining the Broncos for the past two seasons. Although, once the free agency period began this year, he realized that joining New England would be the right thing.

Good Tuesday to everyone, and welcome into yet another edition of the Daily Noontime! Let’s kick-start the day with the news and headlines from the state of Massachusetts!

* Boston’s Felix Doubront halted the Red Sox five-game losing streak, as they defeated the Kansas City Royals on Monday, 11-5. Will Middlebrooks hit his second home run as a big leaguer, while Kelly Shoppach recorded his first triple of the season.

* The Red Sox are now 12-16, 8-6 on the road, and will attempt to double their current winning streak on Tuesday when Daniel Bard faces-off against Danny Duffy at 8:10pm.

* The Boston Celtics will attempt to conclude their first round series against the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday — tip is scheduled for 8:00pm.

* Head coach Doc Rivers gave his team the day off on Monday, so the Green and White could catch a flight to Atlanta earlier than Tuesday. Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Avery Bradley needed that extra day to rest, as all three players are nursing an injury.

It’s Tuesday, as well as the second to last day of February, too. However, besides counting days on the calendar, here are some headlines and news to kick-start the day.

* Sources confirmed on Monday that Boston Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek will announce his retirement on Thursday. Varitek, who spent his entire big league career behind home plate at Fenway Park, was a major catalyst in helping the club snap an 86-year-old curse and then win another World Series three-years later. The Sox offered Varitek a minor league contract this winter, as well as an invitation to attend camp, but didn’t promise him a position on the major league roster. Boston acquired Kelly Shoppach this offseason, who’ll most likely be behind the plate this season.

* Once Monday’s NHL trade deadline concluded, the Boston Bruins acquired Brian Rolston and Mike Mottau from the New York Islanders, as well as defensemen Greg Zanon from the Minnesota Wild. The Bruins will return to the ice on Tuesday when they host the Ottawa Senators for a 7:00pm face-off.

* The Boston Celtics will begin the second half of their 66-game schedule on Tuesday when they travel to Cleveland to face the Cavaliers. The Green and White haven’t registered a win since Feb. 12 against the Chicago Bulls, and will attempt to pick up a few wins over the next few days against some non-playoff bound squads.
