The Day the Sports World Stood Still
It would be an understatement to say that the day after the MLB All-Star game is the best ever, right? It is awful, pathetic, terrible, and just plain old boring. In fact I cannot wait until Friday when there is something to discuss.
The Sox are off until Friday when they travel to Toronto. The New England Patriots are just a few weeks away from training camp. The Bruins are already getting fans excited about their first winter classic at Fenway Park against the Philadelphia Flyers and those Celtics are amusing us over possible free agent signings.
Mix 98.5 FM, which plays a variety of music in Boston, Massachusetts will soon become the “Sports Hub” on the FM dial. They will be a constant 24/7 sports radio station that will mainly feature the Bruins and Patriots games as well as interesting talk shows too. Pending the FCC’s decision it will be dubbed WBZ-FM radio. WBCN 104.1 FM on the other hand will become Mix 104 and play a variety of music instead of their heavy amount of alternative that they do now.
Lots of people have criticized President Obama and his throwing abilities during last night’s pre-game festivities. I on the other hand have chosen not to make fun, especially because I had a summer basketball game at the same time of the 80th MLB All-Star Game. I thought playing basketball versus watching baseball was the right thing to do. Besides, lay off Barack or as Tampa Bay “Devil” Rays centerfield Carl Crawford refers to him as, “Osam-Bomb.” At least did not look like the Charlie Brown in Philadelphia! Be the judge, who really was the worse?
Antoine Walker is in trouble, big, big, BIG… trouble! Do you know why? He simply wrote a few checks that were considered “fake” from his various gambling rampages that began back in July of 2008. He was accused of 3 felony counts for his checks and all I can say is it’s a good thing ‘Toine is not playing for the Celtics these days because I am sure the media would be drilling him left and right with questions about whether he is able to put food on the table for his family.
Matt Cassel finally got what he deserved, a guarantee that he will remain in Kansas City for the next six years. The former New England Patriot quarterback who led the Brady-less Patriots to an 11-5 record last season should feel confident that Scott Pioli is a believer in him.
Finally NFL.com had an interesting video I watched today regarding their top 10 NFL quarterbacks that were drafted first overall. Coming into the number six spot, drum roll please… Eli Manning. Are you serious, Eli Manning! I am just going to leave it at that and not say anymore.
Enjoy this day off from sports and hopefully tomorrow I can treat you to more fun and games during this All-Star break.
