10 NFL Games to Watch this Season

With the NFL season vastly approaching and opening night nearly a week away, Noontime Sports has decided to list their 10 marquee matchups to watch this season.

1.) Minnesota Vikings at New Orleans Saints/Week 1 – The rematch is on! While it has been a few months since Viking quarterback Brett Favre threw the game and season away, he will have a chance to salvage their NFC Championship loss, but really, does he and his teammates stand a chance against the defending Super Bowl champs?

2.) New England Patriots at New York Jets/Week 2 – Here in New England, this game has already been circled on everyone’s calendar. Jets head coach Rex Ryan has continued to enjoy his time in the limelight, a.k.a. HBO’s Hard Knocks, but Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has decided to skip this must see television event and focus on his team’s preseason workouts. The Jets are Super Bowl favorites, but can they win an early divisional contest in September, especially against the Patriots?

3.) Washington Redskins at Philadelphia Eagles/Week 4 – Former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb will return to the city of “Brotherly Love,” but instead, as an enemy, not the home town hero. Can McNabb avoid the countless boo’s and lead the Redskins to victory?

4.) Minnesota Vikings at New York Jets/Week 5 – Brett Favre will make his return to the Meadowlands and face his former team. Yet, will the 40-year old still be playing or dealing with an injury when this game arrives?

5.) Dallas Cowboys at Minnesota Vikings /Week 6 – The Dallas Cowboys won the NFC East last year, as well as a playoff game too, but lost in the divisional round to the “Purple People” eaters. Can they forget what occurred and show the Vikings that they are the better team?

6.) Pittsburgh at New Orleans/Week 8 – On a spooky Sunday evening in New Orleans, the Saints and Steelers will square off on “Trick or Treat” evening. Both squads have won the past two Super Bowls, but only one will win this game. Who will it be?

7.) Indianapolis Colts at New England/ Week 11 – Head coach Bill Belichick gambled last season to convert a 4th and 2 in the fourth quarter, but was unsuccessful. Now the Patriots have a chance to gamble against the defending AFC defending champions in their house. Yet, will they make it?

8.) New Orleans Saints at Dallas Cowboys / Week 12 – Last season, Thanksgiving football wasn’t too exciting, so this season, how about two high powered offenses scoring touchdowns while digesting turkey?

9.) San Francisco 49ers at Green Bay Packers/ Week 13 – Over the past few years the 49ers and Packers have always played incredibly well against one another, but with both teams locks to win their divisions, could NFL fans be watching a battle for home field advantage and seeds for the NFC playoffs in this game?

10.) Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles /Week 17 – In 2008, the Cowboys and Eagles faced off in week 17, but really, it was a one game playoff. The winner moved onto the playoffs, but will this game have any part in deciding, which team will make the playoffs again too?
