Massachusetts College Football: Saturday Afternoon Scoreboard

With a majority of Saturday’s games in the books, here are the highlights and scores from this afternoon’s college football games.

Mass. Maritime 51 – MIT 13: The Buccaneers improved to [2-0], as quarterback Mike Stanton completed 12-of-18 passes and tossed three touchdowns in the win, while running back Matt White led all rushers with 99-yards on 19 carries, and receiver Jonathan Emond registered six catches for 127 yards. Massachusetts Maritime’s defense smothered the Engineers offensive line, as well as quarterbacks John Wenzel and Peter Williams, who combined for five interceptions in the loss.

WPI 55 – Becker College 0: The Engineers tallied 407 offensive yards against the Hawks, which helped WPI scoop up their second victory of the season. Pat McAuley tossed two touchdowns and rushed for 113 yards on five carries while WPI’s defense intercepted both Eagles quarterbacks twice.

Curry College 44 – Coast Guard 21: The Colonels Anthony Carnevale completed 11-of-18 passes for 139 yards, as well as tossed three touchdowns to Ryan Doherty, Skubie Mageza and Tyran Harrigan. Also, Curry’s Phil Bigelow rushed for 158 yards on 21 carries and two touchdowns, while Coast Guard’s Jarrod Owens led the Bears ground game with 46 yards on 13 carries.

Salve Regina 28 – Framingham State 13: The Haws outscored the Rams in the second half, 21-7, as well as picked up their second win of the season Saturday afternoon in Middletown, Rhode Island. Framingham State’s Matthew Silva completed 23-of-39 passes for 300 yards and two interceptions, while Salve Regina’s Richie Edwards rushed for three touchdowns on 31 carries.

Holy Cross 30 – Harvard 22: Crusaders quarterback Ryan Taggard completed 22-of-35 passes for 322 yards and tossed one touchdown, as well as rushed for one score, while Harvard’s Collier Winters tossed two touchdowns and two interceptions in the Crimson’s first game of the season.
