Good morning, and welcome to the brand new, as well as updated version of the Daily Noontime!

We’ve changed our look, and will now be focusing on providing updates, games summaries, and news pertaining toward Boston and New England sports. So, without further ado, let’s get the Daily Noontime for Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2011 underway!

* The Celtics evened their record to 3-3 on Monday, as Boston defeated Washington, 100-92. Ray Allen led the Green and White with 27 points, while rookie center Greg Stiemsma recorded 13 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two blocks in a span of 21 minutes. Also, Paul Pierce finished the contest with 21 points, and eight rebounds. Boston will look to extend their winning streak to four games on Wednesday when they welcome the 1-5 New Jersey Nets to the TD Garden.

* Other basketball scores from Monday included University of Rhode Island defeating Boston College, 78-72, and Northeastern University beating Towson, 57-48.

* According to ESPN – the Jacksonville Jaguars have been granted permission to talk with New England Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien in regards to their head coaching vacancy. However, sources have confirmed that O’Brien is the leading candidate to replace Joe Paterno at Penn State.

* The Boston Bruins will enjoy another day of rest before traveling to New Jersey on Wednesday to face the Devils. The Black and Gold have won seven of their last eight contests, and will look to snap their current one-game losing skid.
