Our trip to the 34th Annual Women’s Boston Beanpot on Tuesday, Jan. 31, begins with a quick look at the Boston College Eagles.
BC Eagles Women’s Hockey:
Hockey East Record: (11-3-2)
Current Streak: BC will enter Tuesday’s contest against Northeastern University having won two of their last three games. They recently lost to Boston University on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 6-0.
Last Beanpot Championship: The Eagles soared to victory last year by defeating Boston University in the opening round, and Harvard University in the championship.
Biggest Win: The most commanding win the Eagles endured this season was against Princeton University on November 25, 2011. The Eagles tallied three goals in the first period, two in the second, and one in the third to earn their ninth victory of the season.
Toughest Loss: Despite outshooting Boston University in the third frame, the Terriers defeated the Eagles, 6-0. Junior Corinne Boyles registered her seventh loss between the pipes, but managed to save 30 shots.
Player to Watch: Freshman Alex Carpenter leads the Eagles with 26 points, (14 goals, 12 assists). So far this season, she’s registered three game winning goals and three game winning assists.
Beanpot Prediction: The Eagles enter the tournament as the clear favorite. They’ve won two of the last three tournaments, and three of the last five. BC has only lost twice in the month of January, but has earned four critical conference victories. Finally, against Northeastern this season, BC is 2-0-1, and has outscored the Huskies, 8-3.
