BOSTON, MA – Boston College’s men’s ice hockey head coach Jerry York is one win away from earning his 900th career victory behind the bench, and on Monday evening at the TD Garden, he picked up his 899th win, as well as his sixth Boston Beanpot title too.

York, who was all smiles after his team’s dramatic 3-2 overtime thriller against Boston University, admitted that various recruits over the years have helped the Eagles maintain their dominance in the Hockey East, as well as outside the Northeast.

“We really have done an outstanding job recruiting the right type of student athlete to BC,” said York. “We’ve got some outstanding young guys, and their hockey skills are just what I thought they would be when I recruited them, and you need a lot of good hockey players to be successful at this level.”

Ever since he returned to his alma mater, York has led the Eagles to three National Championships, and eight Hockey East tournament finals, which he attributes to his players.

“We have had good players that worked hard, and just [hang] in the game,” said York.

BC will attempt to help their coach reach this exciting milestone on Friday evening when they skate at home against Merrimack College.
