Mass. College Football: Weekly Honor Roll

Our first edition of the “Weekly Honor Roll” kicks-off today with a list of various football players from across the state that made a significant impact in their team’s game this past weekend.

Robert Baker, Becker College: The junior gunslinger finished Saturday’s affair against MIT with a school-record of 32 completions on 56 attempts for 382 yards and two touchdowns.

Scott Drosendahl, Mount Ida College: The senior quarterback completed 11-of-13 passes for 155 yards and tossed one touchdown, as well as ran for two additional scores in the Mustangs second victory of the season. Drosendahl solidified the victory following an interception by junior Jon Pronto late in the fourth quarter with a three yard score.

Matt Green, Bridgewater State: The Easton native and junior wide receiver caught two touchdowns, as well as recorded a career high 112 yards on five receptions against UMass Dartmouth.

Paul Melicharek, Bridgewater State: The Bears defense relied on this particular senior, who concluded the contest with nine solo tackles, and one and a half sacks.

Mike Wheeler, Endicott College: During his team’s record-breaking day of 66 total points, the senior tailback tallied three rushing touchdowns on 19 carries for 154 yards.

Drew Frenette, Endicott College: The sophomore quarterback tossed a career-high four touchdowns to two different receivers in his team’s second win of the season. Frenette concluded the game 12-of-20 for 204 yards.

Melikke Van Alstyne, Framingham State: The junior tailback that earned this week’s honor as the New England Football Conference Offensive Player of the Week, totaled 222 yards on 29 carries with two touchdowns against Nichols College.

Joe Everett, WPI: The senior defensive lineman led the Engineers with a game-high 13 tackles; seven of them were for a loss. Also, he was responsible for one forced fumble against Worcester State, too.

Jaquawne Simpkins, American International College: Despite his team’s outcome, the sophomore linebacker led the Yellow Jackets with a game-high 11 tackles.

Mike Stupiello, Assumption College: Against St. Anselm last Friday, the Hounds relied on their defense, which recorded six team sacks. Stupiello was responsible for three of the six sacks, which resulted in a loss of 25 yards. The junior currently leads his team with four sacks through two games.

Jeff Hill, Bentley University: The former Mansfield Hornet was certainly a sparkplug for Bentley this past Saturday, as the sophomore wide receiver recorded five catches for 196 yards against Western Virginia Wesleyan, which was the most by a Falcons receiver since Dallas Mall recorded 201 yards against CW. Post in November 2001. Hill also caught three touchdowns, too, and now has five touchdowns on the current season.

Artis Holt, Merrimack College: The former All-NE-10 defensive performer recorded a team-high seven tackles, intercepted one pass and broke up another in the Warriors first victory of the season.
