This past weekend, MIT’s men’s and women’s cross country teams capped off their seasons with a New England Men’s and Women’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) crown.
The meet, which was held at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, saw the men’s team place all five of their runners in the top 10 to earn their 15th consecutive crown, while the women’s squad placed eight runners en route to their sixth consecutive conference championship.
MIT’s Roy Wedge (26:02.28)and Ben Mattocks (26:08.01) rounded out the top five runners in the men’s race, while Brooke Johnson (18:30:07) finished the course in first place in the women’s race.
Johnson was named this year’s NEWMAC runner of the year, as well as claimed a spot on All-Conference team.
Mattocks and Wedge each earned spot’s on the men’s All-Conference team, along with seven other members of the Engineers squad.
Both squads will continue their seasons in two weeks at the New England Regional Championship, which will be held on Nov. 10.
