BURRILLVILLE, R.I. – The second period of the first Worcester City Shootout tournament game was even more exciting than the first period, and below is a quick summary of the action
Becker College 4, Nichols College 2: The Ice Hawks capitalized on two power play opportunities, as well as found an opening in the defense late in the period, which provided the men sporting the blue and white a two-goal advantage at the break.
Don Kane netted his second goal midway through the frame at 9:57 following a boarding call against Nichols’ Steve Lecey, which evened the score at 2.
Roughly seven minutes later, Dan Kane registered his first strike of the season, as he whipped it past Nichols’ netminder Dylan Woodring for his team’s second power play goal of the contest.
Becker would pot their final goal of the period at 19:16 when Branden Parkhouse connected with a crashing David Graham on the right side of the Nichols cage, which provided the visitors with their largest lead of the game.
The Ice Hawks outshot the Bison in the second frame, 14-5 and experienced three power plays. Parkhouse and Gerald Owen each had two assists during the frame.
