Mass. College Hoops: Becker’s Gorman Reflects On NECC Winning Streak

By Matt Noonan

As noted earlier on our blog, Becker College’s men’s basketball team extended its conference winning streak to 36 games last night following a win against Daniel Webster. The winning streak is apparently the longest in the nation, according to the Hawks website.

Head coach Brian Gorman commented about his team’s success in the New England Collegiate Conference this morning in a phone interview and stated, “It’s just a matter of getting your guys to play every night in the league and our league overall the last few years may not have been the strongest top to bottom in New England, but if you look around other leagues your see the number one team getting beat by the number six or seven team, you see upsets all the time and league play is a little different than out of conference because everyone knows what you’re doing, you play a lot of the teams and get ready to play them a second time, and past years. I think the biggest tribute to my kids is they come to compete every night. They may not always shoot well, they may not always play well, but if you compete you’ll have a chance every night and we’ve done a good job of that.”

We’ll have more from our conversation with Gorman later today. For more information on the Hawks basketball team — HOP HERE.
