NORTON, MA – Wheaton College’s women’s basketball team picked up an important conference win on Wednesday, as the Lyons defeated MIT, 61-58 in overtime.
The win pushed Wheaton out of fifth place and into a three-way tie for fourth with Clark University and Coast Guard.
Wheaton’s Abbie Brickley finished the contest with 23 points and 10 rebounds, while Kenzie Kuhn tallied 11 points, four rebounds and one assist.
Mari Kordell paced MIT with 23 points, while Maya Ramachandran added 10 points.
The win snapped Wheaton’s three-game skid, while MIT’s one-game winning streak concluded. Both teams will return to the hardwood on Saturday, as MIT will travel to Smith College, while Wheaton College will head to Springfield College.
After the contest concluded, Wheaton coach Melissa Hodgdon chatted about the victory and her team’s effort.
