Alex Larson earned his second Goalie of the Week award, while Tyler Beasley received his second Rookie of the Week honor. Here’s the release:

DUDLEY, Mass. – First-year Alex Larson (Madison, Ala.) picked up his second Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Northeast Goalie of the Week accolade and classmate Tyler Beasley (Indianapolis, Ind.) was named the ECAC Northeast Rookie of the Week for the second time following their respective performances the week ending Sunday, January 27, 2013.

Larson boasted a .986 save percentage and a 0.50 goals against average as he stopped 68 of 69 shots in a 2-0 week for the Bison. The goaltender began the week with 32 saves in a 1-0 triumph against Salve Regina en route to his first collegiate shutout. On Saturday, Larson surrendered one goal on 37 shots in a 4-1 victory at Western New England.

“Alex continues to improve every week,” remarked head coach Kevin Swallow. “He’s been consistent night in and night out for us.”

Beasley notched a pair of goals and a helper in a 2-0 week for the Bison. The rookie’s tally early in the second period proved to be the difference in a 1-0 victory at Salve Regina.  He followed up with an assist on the game-winner and added an insurance goal at Western New England.

“Tyler has been a guy we can rely on every night,” said Swallow. “His game-winner at Salve Regina and the third goal at Western New England last week were clutch.”

Nichols (12-7-0, 5-3-0 ECACNE) hosts league-leading Wentworth (10-7-1, 6-2-0 ECACNE) on Wednesday night for an 8:10 p.m. showdown. The Bison defeated the Leopards, 4-3, in overtime at the end of November.
