DUDLEY, Mass. – Nichols College sophomore Grace Murphy (Montclair, Va.) was placed on the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women’s East Honor Roll for the second week in a row following a five point effort.
Murphy extended her current point-scoring streak to five games and set the record for power play goals in a season with her sixth on Saturday at St. Anselm. The goal also put the forward in a tie with Mandy Manopla ’12 for career power play goals (eight). The sophomore also had a helper in the 8-3 setback to the Hawks to go along with her assist in a 3-1 defeat to Franklin Pierce. Murphy began the weekend with a pair of power play goals less than a minute apart in the 2-2 tie at Mass.-Boston on Friday.
“Grace and her line mates stepped up their play this past weekend,” commented head coach Jillian Campbell. “They were a presence on the score sheet and logged key minutes on defense.”
Nichols (3-15-1, 1-9-1 ECACE) faces New England College (6-7-5, 3-6-3 ECACE) on Friday at 4:00 p.m. and wraps up the weekend set at Castleton (8-8-3, 5-4-3 ECACE) on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
