CENTERVILLE, Mass.—Three freshman Beacons hockey players took home hardware Monday afternoon, after a thrilling weekend at the Clark Athletic Center.

Freshman Zach Andrews (Coral Springs, Fla.) has been named the ECAC East Goalie of the Week, while Derek Colucci (North Scituate, R.I.) and Samantha Fallon (Pembroke, Mass.) each were named ECAC East Rookie of the Week.

Andrews went 1-0-1 on the week and helped the Beacons grab three points in ECAC East play. The freshman netminder made 58 saves in a pair of games against #14/16 Babson College, while posting a .892 save percentage and 3.50 goals against average. Saturday afternoon, Andrews made 26 saves on 28 shots, in a 2-2 tie with the Beavers.

The one-time ECAC East Rookie of the Week, becomes the first Beacon to earn the ECAC East Goalie of the Week since Kevin Bendel (’11). Bendel earned the award three times last season en route to being named ECAC East Goalie of the Year.

Colucci is the fifth Beacon freshman to be named ECAC East Rookie of the Week this year. He enjoyed the best week of his season, registering two goals and two assists in a pair of games against the Beavers.

The freshman third-line center scored a goal and added two assists in Friday night’s comeback 7-5 win at Babson, before adding a goal in Saturday’s 2-2 tie.

A UMass Boston men’s hockey player has now won the Rookie of the Week award six out of the past seven weeks.

Fallon scored the first two goals and points of her collegiate career Saturday, and proved to be the Beacons’ sparkplug in a 5-3 upset over #8 Manhattanville College.

The freshman defenseman scored the game-tying and go-ahead goal within a 10-minute span, as women’s hockey earned their second straight 3-point weekend in conference action.

She is the first UMB women’s hockey player to earn a weekly award from the ECAC East all season.
