61st Boston Beanpot: NU’s Roy Reflects On Win Against BU

BOSTON, MA – After he recorded his first career hat trick in a Northeastern University sweater, Kevin Roy talked about his team’s 3-2 victory against Boston University on Monday with the media, and below are a few highlights from the press conference.

On defeating Boston University: “I know that (Boston University) has more wins (in the Beanpot), but I think every year the teams change. They change and I think it’s different every year, so you can’t look back at the history (of the tournament) and try to predict what’s going to happen (during) that specific year, so I think we proved (our doubters) wrong (and) we proved them wrong today.”

On playing at the TD Garden: “You’ve got to think it’s a game like another one, and for sure it’s a bigger stage, but I love to play those types of games and I think when the pressure is higher I (perform better), so I just (got) excited to start and to see what it was like and it was a great experience, a great team win, everyone did what they had to do, and that’s why we came up with the win.”

On the Huskies offense: “The game is played so fast now that (you have) to get the puck on net and get guys through, and I think that’s what we try to do, and try to model our offense on, and today we did a great job. We got the puck on net and guys went through and (that was a major reason) why we won the game, so if we keep playing like this we’re going to have success.”
