Mass. College Hockey: Locals Earn Spots On NCAA Regional Rankings

On Wednesday, the NCAA released its first Regional Rankings for men’s and women’s Div. III hockey, and according to the release on D3Hockey.com, these rankings will help with decide bids and seedings for the upcoming tournament.

The NCAA will release two more sets of rankings on February 19 and 26.

Below are the local teams that were mentioned on this week’s rankings.

Men’s Ice Hockey:

Babson College – The Beavers earned the sixth spot with an overall record of 13-6-4 and region record of 11-4-4.

Williams College – The Ephs earned the seventh spot with an overall record of 13-6-3 and region record of 12-5-3.

Amherst College – The Lord Jeffs checked in as the eighth best team in the East with an overall record of 14-5-3 and region mark of 13-5-2.

UMass Boston – The Beacons were ranked 10th with an overall record of 17-4-2 and a region record of 14-3-2.

Women’s Ice Hockey:

Amherst College – The Lord Jeffs were only squad from Massachusetts to make this list and were slated as the sixth best team in the East. Their overall and region record is 11-8-1.
