Mass. College Hockey: D3 Men’s First Round Roundup
The quest toward winning an NCAA Division III men’s ice hockey championship began this evening for three local squads and below is this evening’s roundup:
Babson College 6, Wentworth Institute of Technology 1 – The Beavers secured a date with Norwich University on Saturday by potting five additional tallies that dislodged the Leopards from the first round of the tournament. Babson’s Troy Starrett and Jay Haseley recorded two goals, respectively, while teammate Matt Furey finished with two assists. Adam Frank got Wentworth on the board with a strike at 17:53 in the second, but that didn’t spark a comeback for Wentworth.
Bowdoin College 5, UMass Dartmouth 2 – Kyle Lockwood‘s power play goal at 19:35 in the second concluded a 2-2 tie and helped the Polar Bears defeat the Corsairs. UMass Dartmouth’s Evangelos Stefanou recorded two points (one goal, one assist) in the setback, while William Colclough finished with two assists.
