Mass. College Hoops: NE-10 Women’s Semifinals Roundup

Four teams entered this evening’s semifinals round and two teams advanced to Sunday’s Northeast-10 Conference championship. Below are roundups from the local women’s contests.

Assumption College 74, Merrimack College 64 – Gabrielle Gibson netted a game-best 30 points, Jamie Insel recorded 13 points and 11 rebounds as the Hounds topped the Warriors in Worcester and punched their ticket to the conference championship. Merrimack received 18 points off the bench from Chloe Rothman and 17 points from Kelly Schatzlein. Assumption’s 22nd win matched a program record, while Merrimack concluded their season with a 17-12 mark.

Bentley University 74, Franklin Pierce 55 – Jacqui Brugliera registered 16 of her season-high 22 points in the second, which lifted the Falcons past the Ravens in Waltham. Bentley’s Lauren Battista recorded 13 points and 11 boards, while Courtney Finn finished with nine points and nine rebounds. The win marks the Falcons 24th time they’ve reached the conference title.
