Mass. College Lax: Wednesday Afternoon/Evening Roundup

Another day of college lacrosse is in the books and below are the game summaries.

Men’s Lacrosse

Amherst College 13, Eastern Conn. 9 – Devon Acton netted two of his four goals during the final frame, which helped the Lord Jeffs earn their first victory of the season. Danny Gold recorded a hat trick in the win, while Rob Dickinson recorded six saves.

Colorado College 9, Wheaton College 4 – Colorado College tallied five second quarter goals that helped them cruise past Wheaton at Washburn Field. Alex Keiver paced the Lyons with two goals, while Billy McNamara and Matthew Hillman each finished with one strike.

Curry College 8, Manhattanville 5 – Joseph Natale and Ronald Jensen each recorded four points (three goals, one assist) as the Colonels improved to 4-0 overall.

Women’s Lacrosse

UMass 16, Vermont 5 – Behind a second half surge of seven goals the Minutewoman defeated the Catamounts in Amherst. Sam Rush led all players with four goals and an assit, while teammate Katie Ferris eclipsed the 200-point barrier with three strikes and an assist. She now has 203 career points.  UMass will look to extend its current winning streak to four on Saturday when they travel to Connecticut to face-off against Sacred Heart.

St. A’s 17, Merrimack College 16 (OT) – Three second half goals with less than seven minutes remaining helped the Hawks force overtime and setup the game-winning strike by Marissa Daly at 4:00 to seal the victory. Olivia Hule paced Merrimack with six points (five goals, one assist), while Aubrie Stouffer added four tallies.

Assumption College 15, Queens (N.Y.) 14 (2OT) – Amy McNeil‘s fourth goal of the game at 1:53 in the second overtime lifted the Hounds to their fourth consecutive victory of the season. Lindsay Hagerman matched her teammate’s effort with four goals, too.

AIC 15, Post 4 – The Yellow Jackets earned their first win of the season by tallying nine second half goals en route to a 11 point victory. American International’s Cheyenne Carden led all scorers with six goals, while Whitney McKay registered four goals and three helpers.

Bates College 12, Endicott College 7 – The Bobcats secured an 8-5 advantage at the break and never looked back as they snapped their three-game winning streak and handed the Gulls their first setback of the season. Holly Davis and Kelly Tierney each recorded two goals for Endicott.

Emmanuel College 15, Regis College 12 (OT) – The Saints tallied three goals during the extra frame that helped them defeat the Pride and claim their first win of the season. Madeline Leahy led the Saints with eight points (five goals, three assists), while Samantha Salamone led the Pride with seven points (four goals, three assists).

Bridgewater State 18, Wentworth 3 – Riley Cachelin recorded seven points (six goals, one assist), while Shelby Farland and Lauren Geary each recorded hat tricks as the Bears defeated the Leopards in their season opener.
