Amherst College and Williams College took the next step toward winning an NCAA Division III men’s basketball championship by earning wins against their opponents this past weekend in the third round.
Amherst defeated Randolph-Macon, 93-76, while Williams beat Virginia Wesleyan, 84-75.
Both squads will travel to Salem, Virginia this weekend to compete in the quarterfinals on Friday, March 22. Williams will tip-off against St. Thomas of Minnesota at 12 p.m., while Amherst will battle Cabrini at 5:30 p.m.
The winners will advance to the semifinals, which will take place the following day at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. If Amherst or Williams is able to win two back-to-back games this upcoming weekend, they will then advance to the championship, which will be held on Sunday, April 7 in Atlanta, Georgia, the site of this year’s Division I and II championships.
