BOSTON, MA – Boston University extended their season for another day as the Terriers defeated the Boston College Eagles in the Hockey East semifinals, 6-3.
Danny O’Regan and Evan Rodrigues netted two goals, respectively, while Garrett Noonan and Matt Lane each registered a strike.
BC jumped out to a two-goal advantage thanks to goals from Bill Arnold and Quinn Smith, but BU responded with two goals from Rodrigues and Lane, which tied the game at 2.
Noonan pushed the Terriers ahead for good when he rifled a shot past Parker Milner late in the third, which provided the Terriers with all the momentum.
Steven Whitney netted his 26th goal of the season off a rebound following a shot from Pat Mullane from the blue line, but that late tally wasn’t enough to jumpstart a rally for the Eagles.
With the win, the Terriers advance to their 10th Hockey East championship tomorrow evening against UMass Lowell, a squad they defeated in 2009.
