NORTON, Mass. – Wheaton College sophomore Matthew Hillman (Brookline, Mass./Brookline) has earned Pilgrim League Player of the Week honors.
Hillman guided the Lyons to their first win over Eastern Connecticut State University since 1996 on Saturday with five goals and four assists on nine shots. Hillman buried an all-important insurance goal with 1:31 remaining as the Warriors scored with seven seconds to go in the contest as the Lyons held on for the 12-11 victory. The sophomore attack also added four ground balls.
Hillman’s nine point afternoon tied him for fifth all-time on the single-game scoring list with several other players in program history. Hillman also tied his career-high single-game points total mark as he tallied nine points (five goals, four assists) against Regis College in a 20-3 win on April 5, 2012.
