WALTHAM, Mass. – Two members of the Bentley University men’s lacrosse team, attacker Matt Brigham (Portsmouth, R.I./Portsmouth Abbey) and midfielder Joey Lefebvre (Hampton, N.H./Winnacunnet), have been named to the Northteast-10 All-Rookie team, the conference revealed Tuesday in announcing its All-Conference teams and major award winners for the 2013 season.
Brigham finished his freshman campaign with 13 goals and seven assists for 20 points, placing him among the team leaders in each of those categories. He was second in goals to Tim Matheson’s (Reading, Mass./Reading) 16, second in assists to Steve Caditz’s (Mercer Island, Wash./Mercer Island) 11 and tied with Caditz for the team lead in points.
A two-time NE-10 Rookie of the Week this season, Brigham scored five of his 13 goals in man-up situations and had a season high four goals in a win over American International on March 13. He also was involved in the two goals that won overtime games for the Falcons this season. He assisted on Matt Dente’s (Reading, Mass./Reading) goal that beat Saint Rose 8-7 in double overtime April 6, and netted the winner himself in triple overtime with one second remaining to beat Franklin Pierce 9-8 April 20.
Lefebvre was one of three primary face-off takers for Bentley, and won better than 57% of his draws (36-61). He collected 12 ground balls on the season and played in 11 of 12 games.
