WORCESTER, Mass. – The College of the Holy Cross has named Matt Raquet an assistant women’s basketball coach, as announced by head coach Bill Gibbons. Raquet’s primary responsibilities will include video operations, player development, scouting and recruiting.
“I am elated to be a member of the women’s basketball staff here at Holy Cross,” Raquet said. “Coach Gibbons has been extremely successful during his tenure here and I am excited to become a part of the winning tradition he has already established. I’m also proud to become a member of such a great institution like Holy Cross and work with its student-athletes.”
Raquet comes to Holy Cross from Temple University, where he served as the administrative coordinator on the women’s basketball staff in 2012-2013. While at Temple, Raquet was in charge of all of the video operations for the Owls as well as organizing official visits for recruits and hiring and supervising team managers. Raquet spent two years prior as a graduate assistant on the Temple women’s basketball staff performing similar duties. He graduated with a master’s degree in sport and recreation management in 2012 from Temple.
“We are thrilled to have Matt come on board,” Holy Cross head coach Bill Gibbons said. “The experience he gained at Temple has been invaluable and we know he is going to be a big asset to our Holy Cross program. Coach (Tonya) Cardoza (Temple Head Coach) spoke very highly of Matt as both a coach and as a first-class gentleman.”
A 2009 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor’s degree in communication and rhetoric, Raquet was a four-year member and senior team captain of the men’s track and field team.
