WORCESTER, Mass. – Another week of college basketball in the Worcester area is in the books and below is this week’s Worcester Area College Basketball Association (WACBA) honor roll.
Men’s Player of the Week: Dane Jobst (Worcester State) – The senior forward recorded his fourth double-double in as many games with 17 points and 11 boards in a 78-61 setback to nationally-ranked WPI.
Men’s Rookie of the Week: Anthony Thompson (Holy Cross) – The first-year guard registered career-bests in points (17) and boards (5) in his team’s win over New Hampshire. Thompson was 3 of 8 from the field and 10 of 10 from the stripe, as well as recorded two assists.
Women’s Player of the Week: Raquel Scott (Holy Cross) – The sophomore forward, who was named this week’s Patriot League Player of the Week, recorded 36 points, 25 rebounds and nine assists in a 2-0 week for the Crusaders. Scott registered double-doubles in both contests, her second and third of her career, as well as tallied a team-high 15 points against Manhattan.
Dave Dudzinski (Holy Cross) – The senior forward registered 17 points, eight rebounds and one steal in his team’s win over New Hampshire. He finished 7 of 14 from the field and 1 of 2 from the stripe.
Jimmy Zenevitch (Assumption) – The junior forward averaged 19.5 points and nine rebounds, while shooting 56.3 percent from the field in a pair of games last week for the Hounds.
Jamie Insel (Assumption) – The senior forward averaged a double-double in a pair of games last week in points (18.5) and rebounds (12), while shooting 64 percent from the field.
Nicholas DaPrato (Clark) – The senior guard/forward was incredible, amassing 27 points, a career-high seven assists to go along with four rebounds and four steals as Clark ran past Anna Maria, 94-86. He converted on 9 of 12 shots from the field, including going perfect from behind the arc (3 of 3) and from the line (6 of 6). The NEWMAC’s leading scorer (20.2) has the Cougars off to their best start since 1992-93.
Ryan Kolb (WPI) – The senior forward poured in a game-best 21 points off an 8 of 12 effort from the field to lead the Engineers to a 78-61 triumph against city foe Worcester State. The senior was balanced with 11 first-half points and 10 after intermission. The forward also chipped in with four rebounds, a pair of steals, an assist and a block.
Sean Doncaster (WPI) – The first-year guard tallied 12 points and six caroms off the bench with three trifectas in WPI’s 78-61 victory over city rival Worcester State.
Julie Frankian (Worcester State) – The sophomore guard registered 14 points, seven rebounds and a trio of assists in a 69-50 victory over St. Joseph University (CT).
