CENTERVILLE, Mass.—For the first time in their careers, UMass Boston men’s hockey sophomores Jeremy Finger (Orlando, Fla.) and Billy Faust (Alta Loma, Calif.) were named the ECAC East Conference Player and Goalie of the Week, the league office announced Monday evening.
The sophomore pair helped the #6/11 Beacons to a 3-0 week by knocking off Salem State University (4-2), #5 Norwich University (4-2) and St. Michael’s College (6-4).
Finger earned the first honors of his career after recording three goals and an assist over the weekend, including registering the game-winner in both contests. The Florida native scored a career-high two markers Friday night in the win over #5 Norwich, before adding the game-winning tally and an assist in Saturday’s come-from-behind victory over the Purple Knights. He leads the team with three game-winning goals, while ranking fourth overall on the squad with his 11 assists and 17 total points.

Friday night in his first collegiate start, Faust recorded 34 saves on 36 shots to lead UMass Boston to a 4-2 victory over the fifth-ranked Cadets. Saturday he came up huge again, stopping all 20 shots he faced in the second and third periods, after coming in at the first intermission with the Beacons trailing 4-1.
