NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.—Olivia Murphy (Canton, Mass.) has been named the Little East Conference Player of the Week for the third time this season after averaging 20 points and 13 rebounds in a pair of games, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
The sophomore forward helped the Beacons to a 1-1 week against Little East opponents by knocking down 53.6 percent (15-for-28) of her field goal attempts and 10-of-12 (83.3 percent) of her free throws. She also added four blocks and four steals in 70 minutes of action.
Tuesday Murphy put together her best performance to date against a conference foe, with 32 points and 19 rebounds in a 70-55 win over intra-state rival UMass Dartmouth. She knocked down 13-of-21 field goal attempts and eight of her 19 rebounds came on the offensive glass. The victory helped UMass Boston snap a three-game losing streak in conference play.
Saturday she finished with eight points and seven rebounds in a hard-fought 60-56 loss at Keene State College.
Murphy and the Beacons will look to make a move up the conference standings this week when they travel to the University of Southern Maine (Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.) and host Rhode Island College (Saturday at 1 p.m.).
