BABSON PARK, Mass.—After averaging 33.0 points and 8.5 rebounds while shooting 61.1 percent from the field in a pair of games last week, first-year forward Joey Flannery (Acton, Mass.) was named to the D3hoops.com men’s basketball Team of the Week for the second time this season on Monday night.
Flannery, who earned his third New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week award on Monday afternoon, had 23 points, seven rebounds and five steals in a 71-70 loss to Clark. He then poured in 43 points on 13-of-18 shooting, including a career-high five three-pointers, as the Beavers pulled out a 77-71 overtime win at Emerson on Saturday.
The first-year forward also went 12-for-18 at the free throw line and pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds as the Green and White moved back into a second-place tie in the league standings. The 43 points are tied for the fifth-hightest in program history, and are the most by any Babson player since 1999.
Flannery was joined on the team by senior Ordel Goldson (Hackettstown, N.J.) of Montclair State, junior Malique Killing (Philadelphia, Pa.) of Muhlenberg, and sophomores J.C. Howard (Pittsburgh, Pa.) of St. Vincent and Dion Smith (Indianapolis, Ind.) of Franklin.
Babson continues NEWMAC play when its hosts Wheaton at 6 p.m. on Wednesday night before taking on third-ranked WPI on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Staake Gymnasium.
