Mass. College Hoops: Saturday D2 Roundup
Here are the results and game summaries from the various Division 2 contests this afternoon.
St. Michael’s 69, Bentley 66: Jasper Grassa recorded five points during the final 11 seconds, including three free throws, but it wasn’t enough to force overtime as the Purple Knights fended off a late Falcons rally en route to their 17th win of the year, 12th in Northeast-10 Conference play. Grassa led Bentley with 13 points, as well as registered six rebounds, three assists and one steal, while Tyler McFarland netted 12 points.
Assumption 68, Merrimack 63: The Greyhounds rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit to defeat the Warriors in Worcester. Asssumption’s Jimmy Zenevitch finished with a double-double of 34 points and 10 rebounds, along with four assists, one steal and one block. JT Strickland paced Merrimack with 19 points.
So. New Hampshire 73, Stonehill 49: Ryan Logan and Josh Heyliger each netted nine points, while Pierce Cumpstone scored seven points off the bench, but it wasn’t enough to help the Skyhawks top the Penmen.
Stonehill 79, Southern New Hampshire 58: Mary Louise Dixon and Amy Pelletier combined for 30 points, while Asia Ewing added 15 points off the bench as the Skyhawks defeated the Penmen in Manchester, New Hampshire. Dixon finished the contest with a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds.
No. 1 Bentley 84, St. Michael’s 52: Courtney Finn and Lauren Battista combined for 30 points, nine rebounds, four steals and three assists as the Falcons defeated the Purple Knights and improved to 23-0.
Assumption 67, Merrimack 56: Assumption’s Caitlin Ackerman stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points, seven rebounds, three assists and one steal as the Greyhounds defeated the Warriors in Worcester. Aria Johnson led Merrimack with 12 points.
