Williams College’s women’s ice hockey team made history yesterday as the Ephs knocked off Bowdoin College in Williamstown and claimed its first-ever NESCAC Championship.
With the win, the Ephs are headed to the NCAA Division 3 Tournament.
The Ephs will face Plattsburgh State in the first-round of the tournament on Saturday, March 15. Face-off is scheduled for 7 p.m., according to NCAA.com. The Cardinals won its second straight ECAC Women’s West Conference crown yesterday by rallying to defeat last year’s champion, Elmira College, 4-3. Plattsburgh State is currently on an eight-game winning streak and is 13-0-0 at home this season.
If the Ephs are able to get past the Cardinals, they’ll advance to the following weekend’s semifinals. Williams would face the winner of St. Thomas (Minn.) vs. Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
The Division 3 National Championship contest is scheduled for Saturday, March 22. According to D3Hockey.com, the Frozen Four will be held at the campus site of one of the four remaining teams.
