The Norwich University Cadets men’s ice hockey team eliminated Salem State from the NCAA Division 3 men’s ice hockey tournament this evening with an 8-2 win.
Norwich secured the lead for good by netting three first period goals before Salem State answered with a strike from TJ Hermans. It was Hermans’s first goal of the season.
The Cadets dashed the Vikings’ comeback hopes by scoring five goals in the middle frame, which secured Norwich a spot in Saturday’s quarterfinals against the winner of Nichols-SUNY Geneseo.
Salem State’s Ryan Sutliffe finished the contest with 27 stops, he faced 35 shots. Norwich capitalized on 3 of 4 power plays, while the Vikings went 0 for 1.
The Vikings conclude their season with a 16-10-2 mark.
