NEWTON, Mass. – The Lasell College men’s lacrosse team jumped out to an early lead, which they never relinquished, and went onto defeat GNAC conference foe Becker College, 11-7.
Casey Sullivan paced the Lasers with five points on three goals and two helpers, while Joe Cunning netted a hat trick.
Daniel Johnson led the Hawks with a hat trick and David Deschenes recorded three points on two goals and one assist.
Lasell secured a 3-0 lead before Becker trimmed the deficit with strikes from Johnson and Blake Boutiette before Sullivan jumpstarted a 5-0 run spanning the second and third quarters, which provided the hosts with 9-5 lead.
Cunning sealed the win for the Lasers with a fourth quarter goal on the left side of his opponent’s zone at 13:40. Becker did tack on two more goals before the final horn sounded, but it wasn’t enough to spark a late rally.
With the win, the Lasers improve to 8-4 overall and 7-0 in conference play, while Becker falls to 10-3 and 6-2.
