BEVERLY, Mass. – The Western New England men’s lacrosse team captured its second straight Commonwealth Coast Conference Crown (CCC) this afternoon as the Golden Bears rallied from a two-goal deficit at halftime to defeat Endicott College, 13-8.
Colton Craig led the Golden Bears with five tallies, Adam Knapton registered a hat trick and Brandon Body finished with eight saves.
Endicott’s Harrison Cotter matched Craig with five markers, while Colin Bannon recorded three points on two goals and one helper.
Cotter provided the Gulls with a 4-1 lead late in the opening stanza before the Golden Bears responded by scoring three of the next five goals to pull within two at the break.
Endicott and WNE swapped goals to commence the third quarter prior to Craig’s marker at 8:13 that initiated an 8-0 run, spanning the final two frames, which pushed the Golden Bears ahead for good.
With the win, the Golden Bears will make its second straight trip to the NCAA Division 3 Tournament, while Endicott will wait and see if their name is called tomorrow evening when the brackets are released.
