Endicott College men’s lacrosse head coach Eric Hagarty earned his first official win on the sidelines as the Gulls earned a dramatic 13-12 double-overtime win against 14th ranked Union College on Wednesday afternoon.
Peter Field Jr. netted the game-winning goal in the second overtime session to snap an early two-game skid.
Endicott fell in back-to-back contests to start its seasons, including a 16-15 overtime setback to Stevens last weekend.
Field Jr. finished with four goals, Colin Bannon recorded a trio of goals and assists, and Cameron Bell stopped 10 shots. Bannon was credited with the assist on the game-winning goal.
Endicott will enjoy a six-day layoff before facing sixth-ranked Middlebury College on Tuesday, March 8 at 5:00 p.m.
MIT men’s lacrosse wins season-opener: Michael Traub and Mitch Turley each netted a pair of goals, Eric Bartell deflected 16 shots as the Engineers commenced their 2016 campaign with a 12-8 victory over Emmanuel College.
Emmanuel received four goals from Justin Kelly, who also recorded one helper in the loss. Tony Cibelli notched a pair of goals in the win, while Austin Rosenberg turned aside 15 shots in his collegiate debut.
MIT outshot Emmanuel, 40-37, while the Saints won 12 of 23 face-offs, thanks to Tony Marcella.
The Engineers travel to Skidmore on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. face-off, while Emmanuel returns to action Monday, March 7 against Alfred University in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Saints will also play Merchant Marine in Myrtle beach with face-off scheduled for 1 p.m. on Friday, March 11.
