In case you missed yesterday’s announcement, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) announced that Colby-Sawyer and Regis College have accepted invitations to join the league, beginning with the Pride in 2017-18 and Chargers in 2018-19.
Commissioner Joe Walsh made the announcement yesterday morning.
A current member of the New England College Conference (NECC) since 2011, the Pride collaborated for six league championships this past school year (2015-16).
The Chargers, which compete in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC), have captured 22 titles since 2011, according to the GNAC release.
“Colby-Sawyer and Regis both have a track record of commitment to the GNACS’s core values and are like-minded academically, athletically and geographically with our current member institutions,” Walsh said in the conference press release.
“Throughout the application process, it was clear that these two institutions are very much committed to their athletic programs, student-athletes and coaching staffs.”
The GNAC is a 12-team conference, which was founded in 1995.
