Syracuse’s Kayla Treanor Set To Join Boston Storm Of UWXL
By Matt Noonan
The United Women’s Lacrosse League (UWLX) announced earlier today that six college seniors would join one of the four teams in their league, including the Boston Storm, which welcomed Syracuse University standout Kayla Treanor.
Treanor, who ranks fourth all-time in NCAA Division I women’s lacrosse history in points recorded (393), concluded her four-year career by becoming the fifth student-athlete in program history to earn a quartet of first-team All-America honors. Named the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division I attacker of the year earlier this week, Treanor garnered a trio of ACC Offensive Player of the Year honors, while establishing a new Division I single-season record with 217 draw controls this spring.
In addition to Treanor, the Baltimore Ride acquired a trio of former student-athletes, including Maryland’s Taylor Cummings, while classmate Alice Mercer and Syracuse alum Halle Majorana joined the Long Island Sound.
Treanor joins a Boston squad that enters its second week of competition with a 1-0 mark. The Storm are in action this evening as they take on Baltimore at Richard F. Garber Field (UMass) in Amherst, Massachusetts with opening draw set for 6 p.m.
