Wheaton College women’s basketball alum (and recent graduate) Kiley Shoemaker made headlines yesterday, signing with Gruner Stern Keltern of the Damen-Basketball-Bundesliga (DBBL), according to Flash Agency.
Shoemaker concluded her four-year career with the Lyons by shattering a 28-year-old rebounding record, tallying 943 caroms in 105 contests. Additionally, she ranks first in program history in free-throw percentage (.847) and blocks (284).
At the conclusion of the 2015-16 season, Shoemaker received her third consecutive New England Women3’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) accolade, earning first team honors. Shoemaker led the conference in double-doubles (10), while finishing second in points, rebounds, free throw shooting and blocked shots.
According to eurobasket.com, Gruner Stern Keltern qualified for the 2016 DBBL Playoffs, but lost BC Pharmaserv Marburg in the quarterfinals in a best-of-three series.
