A trio of New England teams captured their respective conference crowns this afternoon as Bridgewater State defeated Framingham State (28-27 OT), Husson University beat Norwich University (27-13) and Western New England topped Salve Regina University (41-22).

In addition to a trio of big conference ‘championship wins,’ our second best team in New England – Trinity College – won its seventh-straight contest, defeating Amherst College on Senior Day by a score of 24-14.

Below is a roundup from today’s big games – we will have more later this weekend, including links and tweets from Week 10.

Week 10 Highlights:

Bridgewater State 28, Framingham State 27 (OT): Russ Bolarinho’s PAT in the extra session proved to be the difference as the Bears claimed their first MASCAC regular season crown since 2008. Malik Gordon scored the game-tying touchdown in the extra session – a one-yard-plunge – which tied the game at 27-27. Garrett finished the contest with a pair of scores and 124 yards on 23 carries.

Western New England 41, Salve Regina 22: Western New England halfback Nick Connell rushed for a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns, which helped the Golden Bears secure their second-straight New England Football Conference (NEFC) crown. Connell tallied four scores and rushed for a season-high 170 yards and four touchdowns in his team’s ninth-straight win.

Husson 27, Norwich 13: For the second time in three seasons, the Eagles of Husson are ECFC champs. The Eagles scored an exciting win on Senior Day against the Cadets, while receiving some help from SUNY Maritime – the Privateers defeated Mount Ida College, 17-14 – to secure the conference title. John Smith led Husson’s ground game – and all rushers – with 211 yards and three touchdowns, while Luke Washburn concluded the contest with seven total tackles (two solo), one-and-a-half sacks, two-and-a-half tackles for a loss and a pair of quarterback hurries.

Maritime (N.Y.) 17, Mount Ida 14: Mark Murphy kicked a 23-yard field goal with nine seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to lift the Privateers over the Mustangs.

Trinity 24, Amherst 14: A fumble recovery returned for a touchdown by Spencer Donahue along with a pick-six by Paul McCarthy helped the Bantams defeat the Purple and White on Senior Day.
