Social Media in the NCAA Division III basketball world went haywire last night, celebrating what was perhaps the biggest upset of the season.

Springfield College knocked off our number one squad – and the D3Hoops.com top team in the nation – Amherst College by a score of 71-70.

Springfield first-year Jake Ross blocked what would have been the game-winning three by Johnny McCarthy to set off an exciting celebration in ‘Basketball City.’ And according to the games’ release, the victory marked the first time the Pride have defeated a nationally ranked opponent – crazy, right?

Below are some of the best tweets – and celebratory social media posts – following the game.

Also, don’t sleep on this Pride squad – they’ll be a team to watch in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play, beginning in January!
