The Albertus Magnus men’s basketball team remains unbeaten in 2017 – they have not dropped a single-contest since falling to New Jersey City last month.
Winners of seven-straight, including eight consecutive victories at home – the Falcons are a perfect 8-0 in New Haven, Connecticut – the Falcons secured their 13th win of the season this afternoon, defeating Anna Maria, 85-82, in Paxton, Massachusetts.
The win bumped the Falcons to 13-3 overall and 9-1 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play. It also provided Coach Mitch Oliver with his 200th career victory, too.
Since his initial season (2007-08), Oliver has guided the Blue and White to 20 wins (or more) six times and 25 wins (or more) three times. Oliver has navigated the Falcons to five conference crowns (2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015). In 2014, the Falcons reached the ‘Round of 16’ for the first-time in program history.
Albertus Magnus is currently the top team in the GNAC – Mount Ida is behind the Falcons with an 8-2 league ledger. Both teams will square-off twice in February.
The Falcons return to the hardwood on Wednesday, January 25th when they host Rivier at 7 p.m. Albertus Magnus captured the first meeting earlier this month, defeating the Raiders, 93-56.
