WACBA Honor Roll (Women’s Basketball) Week 10

WORCESTER, Mass.  Another week of college basketball is in the books, which means it is time to dish out our Worcester Area College Basketball Association (WABCA) Women’s Honor Roll, including our Player and Rookie of the Week.

Women’s Player of the WeekInfiniti Thomas-Waheed (Holy Cross | Jr. | Newton, Mass.): Thomas-Waheed posted a career-high 26 points to lead the Crusaders to a 63-51 win over Bucknell. She sank 9 of 17 field goals, converted all six of her freebies, while finishing the contest with a pair of rebounds, blocks and swipes.

Women’s Rookie of the Week: Emma Thomson (Fitchburg State | Fr. | York, Maine): Thomson averaged 12 points, two rebounds and one assist per game in two contests for the Falcons last week. She registered a team-leading 15 points (five-of-seven shooting), two rebounds and two assists in a 69-63 win over Lasell before adding nine points and two caroms in a 77-65 setback to Bridgewater State on Saturday afternoon.

Women’s Honor Roll:

Adrianna Dowdy (Becker | Soph. | East Haven, Conn.): Dowdy averaged 17.5 points, 12 rebounds and four assists this past week. Against the Lynx on Saturday, the sophomore posted 23 points and 12 rebounds in a 56-40 victory, while shooting 66 percent from the floor. Picked to finish eighth in the preseason poll, Dowdy has the Hawks contending for second place in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC)

Amy Connolly (Fitchburg State | Soph. | Dedham, Mass.): Connolly averaged 13.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, one assist, 0.5 steals and 0.5 blocks per game in two contests for the Green and Gold. She netted 12 points, three boards, one assist and one block in a 69-63 win over Lasell on before adding 15 points, eight caroms, one assist and one steal in a 77-65 setback to Bridgewater State on Saturday.

Taylor Daniels (Nichols | Sr. | Dudley, Mas.): Daniels averaged 16.0 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.0 steals in a trio of outings last week for the Bison. She highlighted her team’s week by netting 22 points last Saturday against Curry. She also notched a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds against Western New England on Tuesday.

Britt Herring (Worcester State | Soph. | W. Brookfield, Mass.): The sophomore center scored a game-high 18 points as she went 8-for-11 (72.7%) from the field in the Lancers’ 61-54 win over Salem State. Herring also picked up six rebounds, two blocks, a steal and an assist in the game.

Madison Beck (WPI | Jr. | Syracuse, N.Y.): Beck led the Engineers with 11 points on 10-of-18 shooting, along with a pair of freebies and 7.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week. She came off the bench Saturday to pace the team with 14 points and shared team-high honors of eight rebounds in a road upset at the hands of Coast Guard. Earlier in the week, Beck scored nine points and again shared team-high honors in rebounds with seven as the Engineers raced past Mount Holyoke.
