A 16-year tournament drought came to a close last night as the Mount Ida College men’s basketball team defeated Saint Joseph’s (Maine) in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tournament by a score of 91-83.

Mount Ida’s Kevin Conner paced the Mustangs, netting 18 points, while pulling down six rebounds. Jayson Clark added 12 points, along with seven assists, four caroms and four swipes, while Joey DeFillippi contributed 13 points.

With the win, the Mustangs advance to Thursday evening’s semifinal at Albertus Magnus – the Falcons, who entered the conference tournament as the top seed, defeated Anna Maria last night, 92-67. The Falcons defeated the Mustangs twice this season, including a six-point win (86-80) in Newton earlier this month.
