For the second-straight week, the Springfield College Pride secured the top spot in this week’s Grinold Chapter New England Division III football weekly rankings.

The news of this week’s poll was announced earlier this afternoon.

The Pride, who improved to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play, secured 10 first-place votes, while Framingham State, which checked-in second on this week’s poll, earned five first-place votes. The Rams were idle this past weekend weekend, but entered their bye week winners of four-straight.

Trinity College, Amherst College and Middlebury College rounded out the top five – the Mammoths of Amherst secured one first-place vote. All three teams head into the fourth week of New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play undefeated.

Salve Regina and Curry College checked-in sixth and seventh, respectively, while MIT, Plymouth State and Husson University secured the final positions.

Springfield’s ground game highlighted their 42-3 win over Norwich this past weekend as both Jordan Wilcox (111 yards) and Chad Shade (101 yards) each found the end zone, while the defense registered five sacks. This week, the Pride head to Coast Guard Academy for a 1:30 p.m. kick-off.

Trinity secured its third-straight win of the season by defeating Williams College, 17-9. Quarterback Sonny Puzzo and tailback Max Chipouras combined for two scores, while the Bantams’ defense recorded a pair of sacks and interceptions.

Ollie Eberth highlighted Amherst’s third win of the season as the second-year signal-caller recorded a pair of scores, including a 23-yard score on the ground in the final session to secure a 31-14 win over Bowdoin College. Quarterback Jared Lebowitz completed 28 of 52 passes for 389 yards, while tossing three touchdowns in Middlebury’s 37-6 win over Colby College.
