Springfield College remained the top team in the latest Grinold Chapter New England Division III football weekly rankings, as announced via email earlier today (Monday, Oct. 30th).
The Pride, who received 13 first-place votes this week, was idle this past weekend, but returns to the gridiron this Saturday, November 4 when they travel to Maine Maritime for a 12 p.m. kickoff.
In addition to checking-in first on this week’s poll, Springfield also remained the 22nd best team in the country, per the latest D3Football.com poll.
Trinity College and Plymouth State checked-in second and third, respectively, while Husson University and Western Connecticut tied for the fourth position. Both the Bantams and Panthers earned one first-place vote.
Framingham State, Curry College and Amherst College checked-in sixth, seventh and eight, respectively, while Western New England secured the ninth position and WPI the 10th spot. Salve Regina, which fell to the Golden Bears this past weekend, was the lone team to receive votes.
Trinity, which secured an impressive 27-5 win over Middlebury College, improved to 7-0 on the season, while Plymouth State improved to 8-1 overall and 6-1 in the MASCAC with a 17-0 win over Westfield State.
Quarterback Quinn Fleeting highlighted the Colonials seventh win of the season by tossing four touchdown passes, while rushing for one score on the ground. Fleeting and the Colonials head to Framingham State this Saturday for an important conference clash with the Rams.
Husson University defeated Anna Maria this past weekend, while Framingham State rolled by UMass Dartmouth, 34-13. The Rams’ defense highlighted their exciting win over the Corsairs.
