WACBA Honor Roll: Women’s Basketball Week Nine (Tuesday, Jan. 30th)

WORCESTER  With another week of college basketball in the books, it is time to unveil this week’s Worcester Area College Basketball Association (WACBA) Women’s Basketball Honor Roll, including our Player and Rookie of the Week honors.

Women’s Player of the Week
: Lauren Manis (Holy Cross | Soph. | Franklin, Mass.):
This week’s Patriot League Player of the Week averaged a double-double of 22.50 points and 10.00 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Crusaders. In an overtime loss to American, the sophomore forward recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 18 points and 11 rebounds. She also had a big impact in the Crusaders’ victory against Lafayette on Saturday as she netted 27 points, while pulling down nine rebounds. Per Monday’s release, Manis ranks first in the conference in scoring with an average of 18.5 points per game and fifth in rebounding with 8.4 boards per game. In her career, Manis has tallied 788 points (15.5 per game) and totaled 402 rebounds (7.9 per game).

MReen ROWWomen’s Rookie of the Week: Meghan Reen (Assumption College | Fr. | Norwood, Mass.): Reen was impressive in an 0-2 week, averaging 15.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game while shooting 54.5 percent from the floor. She had nine points and four assists in a loss to Southern Conn. but followed it up with a career-high 21 points with four rebounds and two assists as the Hounds were edged by Le Moyne.

Women’s Honor Roll

Hailey Moore (Anna Maria College | Soph. |Worcester, Mass.): Moore averaged 9.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and four blocks in a pair of games last week. Against Lasell College, she scored a career-high 12 points, while pulling down a career-best 14 caroms. She also recorded a career-best six blocks en route to her first-ever double-double. Later against Albertus Magnus, she tallied seven points, while pulling down nine rebounds.

Morgan O’Donnell (Assumption College |Jr. | Easton, Mass.): O’Donnell averaged 19.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals while shooting 56.5 percent from the floor in an 0-2 week. The junior tied her career high with 23 points, four rebounds and two steals in a tight loss to Southern Connecticut. O’Donnell finished the week with 15 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals as Assumption was edged by Le Moyne.

Adrianna Dowdy (Becker College | Jr. | East Haven, Conn.): Dowdy led Becker to a 2-0 week, averaging 11 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, and shooting 75 percent from the floor.

Ogechi Ezemma (Clark University | Jr. | Hope Valley, R.I.): In a 1-1 week for Clark, Ezemma posted 20 points including 15 in a conference win over Mount Holyoke on January 24th. She collected 25 rebounds to go along with four steals and a block.

Angelina Marazzi (Fitchburg State | Soph. | Manchester, N.H.): Marazzi averaged 17.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.7 steals per contest in three games for the Green and Gold. She posted 12 points, seven boards and three steals in a setback to Westfield State on Tuesday before adding ten points, three rebounds and one steal in a 75-55 setback to Bridgewater State on Thursday. She finished off the week with 31 points, four caroms, four assists and one steal in an 88-78 setback to Framingham State on Saturday.

Britt Herring (Worcester State | Jr. | West Brookfield, Mass.): The junior center averaged 14 points, nine rebounds, 2.3 blocks and two assists in a 2-1 week for the Blue and Gold. She recorded 12 points, seven rebounds, two assists, a steal and three blocks in the early-week win over Bridgewater State before putting-up 18 points with eight boards and three blocks in her team’s setback to Westfield State. She wrapped up the week with double-double figures of 12 points and 12 rebounds with three assists and a block in the win over Salem State. Overall, she shot 59.4% (19-32) from the field.
