D3 Football: Zelos Athletics’ Players Of The Week (Monday, Sept. 30th, 2019)

With the fourth week of the New England Division III Football season in the books, it is time to unveil our four players of the week post, which is powered by Zelos Athletics.

Our Noontime Sports ‘Players of the Week’ post is powered by Zelos Athletics, which uses FusionSport Technology to track an athletes’ performance metrics during speed, agility, and plyometric drills.

Zelos Athletics also provides individual and team speed and agility training, combined with strength & conditioning training, too

This season, Noontime Sports will select one player for our three weekly honors: offensive, defensive and special teamer of the week.

The ‘Players of the Week’ post will be published every Monday throughout the season.

Stephen Gacioch recorded three touchdowns in his team’s 21-14 win over Plymouth State University to bump

Offensive Player of the Week: Stephen Gacioch (UMass Dartmouth | Quarterback | Tiverton, R.I.): The Rhode Island native recorded 409 yards of total offense last Saturday in the Corsairs’ 21-14 win over Plymouth State.

Gacioch completed 32 of 45 passes for 305 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for a game-high 104 yards on 22 carries and one score.

For his effort, the third-year quarterback received his second Division II/III Gold Helmet Award of the season from the New England Football Writers Association. He earned his initial Golde Helmet of the 2019 season one day after leading UMass Dartmouth to a 54-7 win over Alfred State in week one.

Through four contests, Gacioch has completed 91 of 143 passes for 1,344 yards and 15 touchdowns. He has also rushed for 185 yards on 63 carries and one touchdown.

Defensive Player of the Week: R.J. Robiskie (Coast Guard Academy | Linebacker | Murrieta, Calif.): Against Curry College last Saturday, Robiskie tallied five total tackles, including three sacks for a loss of 18 yards. Additionally, the senior linebacker recorded one forced fumble and one pass break-up as he and the Bears defense helped Coast Guard Academy return to the win column with a 17-7 victory against the Colonels.

Robiskie has been a player to watch on the Bears’ defense this fall – he has recorded a team-high six sacks in four contests while tallying 25.0 total tackles and three pass break-ups.

Coast Guard’s defense has limited opposing offenses to just 48.0 rushing yards per game, as well as 16 points per contest.

Special Teamer of the Week: Mason Von Jess (Wesleyan University | Kicker | Lakeville, Conn.): For the second time in three contests, Von Jess recorded 12 points, which helped Wesleyan University defeat Bates College last Saturday by a score of 48-12.

Von Jess concluded his team’s third contest of the season with six extra points and two field goals. He booted a career and season-best 42-yard field goal in the win, while also tallying four touchbacks off nine kickoffs.

Through three contests, the first-year kicker has recorded 24 points off 13 extra points and five field goals.
