The Tufts University men’s basketball team secured the top spot in our tenth poll of the season following two conference wins last weekend, including an 80-67 victory over Colby College, which entered the game on an 18-game winning streak.
With the win over Colby, as well as Bowdoin College, the Jumbos secured the top spot in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) with just four games remaining. Tufts will play its final four games away from Medford, Massachusetts, beginning this Friday, February 7th at Trinity College.
The Bantams of Trinity secured the tenth position on this week’s poll – the Blue and Gold have won four-straight, including back-to-back games against Middlebury College and Williams College. Trinity has won four of six conference games thus far but faces a tough stretch over the next two weeks.
Springfield College continues to be the team to beat in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic (NEWMAC) conference as they have won seven of eight league meetings. They host Coast Guard Academy on Wednesday, February 5th followed by Emerson College on Saturday, February 8th. The Lions of Emerson defeated the Pride last month in Boston.
Finally, don’t overlook Brandeis University or St. Joseph’s (Conn.) as both teams enter the final weeks of the regular season with a great deal of momentum. The Judges boast their best conference mark at the midway point of league play, while the Blue Jays have won 16 consecutive contests dating back to November.
